'New' Old Maxwell
Old Cranks Motorcar Museum recently acquired a 1916 Maxwell touring car that is completely original, including the paint and upholstery. This car has an unusual starting system which has two six volt batteries connected in series. When energizing the starter, 12 volts are used and then after the engine is running, the system switches to six volts. The top material is original, but in tatters. If only this rare survivor could tell its story. The auto was found in Kentucky but it is thought it has been in Tennessee most of the last 92 years.
